Not All Diet Plans Are Healthy Diet Plans
There are numerous types of diet plans that one can follow in an effort to lose weight. However, not all these diet plans are necessarily healthy diet plans.
Some diet plans consist of only a liquid diet or only one type of food. Many of the fad diet plans do not provide the body with the required nutrients and/ or sufficient calories needed to maintain optimum health.
- SELECTION OF FOOD CHOICES
Your diet plan should not confine you to eating only one type of food. Your body requires various types of nutrients to function properly. Only one type of food cannot provide you with all the necessary nutrients to maintain good health.
You need to consume different types of food throughout the day to provide proper nutrition for your body. Healthy diet plans should be comprised of foods like fruits, vegetables, grains, beans, nuts, lean meat and poultry.
- ADEQUATE MEALS
Starvation may seem like an easy way to lose weight, but it proves to be more a hindrance to weight loss rather than any help. When the body steps into the hunger mode, it closes down its metabolic system and reserves the fats for future use. Hence, the body tends to lose weight at a slower speed than it actually should. A healthy diet should not allow the body to starve, but should provide the body with adequate nutrients and calories.
- LESS CALORIES
Consuming fewer calories is the key to losing weight. Making your body starve is not productive. Intake of less calories and burning more and more calories will help you to lose weight. A healthy diet plan should consist of filling and nutritious foods which are low in calories.
High calorie foods which are not filling are not only counter productive to your weight loss mission, but are bad for your health as well. A good diet plan will provide you with various food choices and adequate calories.
- FOODS WHICH SHOULD BE AVOIDED
- Pizzas
- Cakes and pastries
- Chips and junk foods
- Burgers
- Cheese
- Sweetened breakfast cereals
- Chocolates, ice cream and other desserts
- Soda and sweetened fruit juices
- Butter, peanut butter, mayonnaise and salad dressings
- Alcohol
- Fast food meals
The above foods should be totally avoided if you are serious in your goal to lose weight. All these foods are rich in fats and will only cause you to accumulate more fats in your body. These foods are always excluded from every healthy diet plan which is designed to reduce body weight.
Remember, following a healthy diet plan alone is not enough to do wonders for your body. Exercise is every bit as important as a healthy diet plan. If you regularly work out in your gym or at home, you will certainly accomplish your goal of having a lean, healthy and fit body.
